Living with a Blind Cat

Adoptions/Openings

We are Joe & Barbara Miller, ordinary folk who happened to fall in love with an impressive blind cat, Magoo.  Barbara has fostered primarily kittens for local rescue groups for over a dozen years.  Joe has been administering the vaccines for the fosters, and has recently learned to administer sub-cu fluids for the cats with renal or health problems.  The children are grown with families of their own, and we now have only furkids at home.

Our personal pets are Moira, a part Belgian Malinois dog who was rescued from the county animal shelter at 15.9 pounds.  She now weighs 43 pounds, and adores the personal cats:   Gladstone, Buddy, Lulu, Titus, Wonder and the newest addition, Mootang.  The "Grandpa" of the brood, Zoro, passed away at the age of 16 years, 11 months, in September 2005.  Our newest canine addition, Amos, is a terrier mix we adopted from the Lenoir County SPCA in February 2006.  He is a laid back fella who is loved by all - human, canine and feline.   Our newest feline addition, Pittsburgh, arrived in this spring.  He was originally destined to be a Magoo Room cat, but we found him in good health and he was not blind.  Since we were already quite taken with him, we brought him into the Miller critter clan.

Support comes from many avenues.  A few to whom I owe thanks are:

Bobby Parsons who brought us to fostering kittens, years ago.

SavingGraces4Felines, the gals who epitomize dedication

Tenth Street Animal Hospital staff and vets, who are generous with their time and talents.  We appreciate them beyond measure.

Joe & Beth, who suffer allergies, on each and every visit home

Greg & Vicky, who nurture people, not cats, but gave us grandchildren that  may carry the torch

Kate and Patrick—the future

And most of all Joe, whose humor (“Barbara, there’s poop in the shower and I didn’t do it!”) love, support, and encouragement, enriches my   life daily

Our appreciation also goes to:

Tina Williams for designing the website

And all the people who donate and purchase our books!
